Molly Patterson Web Branding

Molly Patterson is a published fiction writer whose novel is forthcoming from a major publishing house. In order to publicize the book’s release, she wanted to create a website to feature her novel, upcoming events, and other published works. Inspired by abstracted natural forms and borrowing from the traditions of book cover designs making thoughtful use of negative space, the design for Molly’s website is both constrained and immersive. Pairing small, handmade details with classic type, the overall feel is accessible and authentic while still professional.

The logo is set in a classic typeface used commonly in printed books, while a subtle texture created by hand adds depth. On the homepage, the logotype is paired with custom artwork that further draws on the qualities of the logo and provides visual interest to set off the navigation.
